Pita Chips

Recipe Courtesy of Allrecipes.com

INGREDIENTS

12 pita bread pockets
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon dried basil

DIRECTIONS
1.Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

2.Cut each pita bread into 8 triangles. (For thinner pitas chips, split the pitas than cut them into triangles.) Place triangles on lined cookie sheet.

3.In a small bowl, combine the oil, pepper, salt, and basil. Brush each triangle with oil mixture.

4.Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes (7 minutes for thinner pita chips), or until lightly browned and crispy. Watch carefully, as they tend to burn easily!

Eat with whatever sounds good. Great with hummus.

For a sweeter twist, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, instead of salt, pepper and basil. Serve with a fruit salsa.

I LOVE homemade pita chips. In fact I had forgotten how much I loved them until I read your post. Excited to try the dried basil. Thanks for sharing!
